Natural Resources Committee: 2025 Summer Trail Challenge
The Natural Resources Committee is sponsoring a “Survivor” themed Trail Challenge open to all PIHA members. The event begins on Friday May 23rd, 2025 and runs through Labor Day (Monday September 1st, 2025). The event is designed to encourage everyone to get out and explore the PIHA Trail system and at the same time challenge yourself looking for a “Hidden” box that will contain an “Token” inside the box identifying the trail it was located on. Participants are to take a photo of the “Token” and return the box to its “Hidden” location on the trail for the next person to find. Return to the Clubhouse with your photo(s) and get your name on the Trail Challenge Control Board and receive prizes for items such as; Free Popcorn, Free ice Cream at Portage, PIHA Swag, etc.
Here are the details:
- This event is open to all members and their families.
- There will be a small box hidden on all the 13 PIHA Trails, with the exception of the Power Line Trail (Trail #3& Trail #4).
- Pick-up a copy of the “Clues” sheet from the Clubhouse, the Clues will help you find the hidden box. All the hidden boxes will be located on the ground near the landmark mentioned in the clue.
- Inside each of the boxes will be a token notating the trail number it was hidden on, take a photo of the token and return the box to where it was found.
- Bring the photo back to the Clubhouse and show it to the Clubhouse Attendant, you will be added to the Trail Challenge Control Board and depending on the trail it was found on and the difficulty rating that has been assigned, you will receive a prize.
- As you progress in the game, your rank on the Game Control Board increases depending on the number of tokens found.
- Upon finding your 3rd token, you attain the rank of Scout
- Upon finding your 6th token, you attain the rank of Lieutenant
- Upon finding your 9th token, you attain the rank of Captain
- Upon finding your 12th token, you attain the rank of Ranger
- Those that attain the rank of Ranger will have the option of having their picture taken and posted at the Clubhouse and are eligible for a free PIHA “Swag” item (T-Shirt or Sweatshirt) of their choice.
- You only earn a prize once per PIHA trail.
- The most important part will be to “Have Fun”, this is a new event and with enough interest and participation it can grow.
