Members of Presque Isle Harbor Association, please be aware that there has been increasing activity from alleged real estate companies expressing interest in purchasing properties from individual members. This has been brought to the attention of the PIHA Board of Directors, prompting this response to membership.
While some of these unsolicited communications may be legitimate, unfortunately many are not. It is always prudent to follow some guidelines such as:
1. Always ask for a real estate broker’s/agent’s license, and then research it to insure it is legitimate.
2. Be especially skeptical of unsolicited offers from faceless electronic buyers.
3. Get a legitimate appraisal for the property locally.
4. Never wire monies to any faceless individual contacting you.
During seller’s or buyer’s markets, there are scoundrels poised to exploit the uninformed. Don’t be a victim.
